Firstly the bad news: One of the batteries supplied with the camera is a dud! Ho hum, time to contact Amazon....
I had a very brief change to test drive the camera and software yesterday and I can report:
1) The Software is not as bad as I was led to believe, once again, the reviews are overly harsh in my view.
2) The files are, as predicted, jaw dropping in their rendering of detail. I have not viewed critically WRT colour or artifacts but this looks great to me:

Snow on the ground here ion Totnes today but melting rapidly, I will try and get out for some snow scenes with DP2M and X100 shortly.
